London-talk -- The London Talk List

About London-talk
English (USA)

This list, "[email protected]" is sponsored and managed by the London Special Interest Group of the members of American Mensa, Ltd, in co-operation with Mensa International. It exists to encourage communication among members of Mensa worldwide interested in London. This list is a pilot project for Mensa email lists of international interest. It may be discontinued without notice at any time.

American Mensa, Ltd. accepts no responsibility for the opinions and information posted via its Internet-based communications services by its members or guests. Additionally, American Mensa is not liable for damages resulting from information transmitted via these services.

We have a few rules. They are designed to keep the list usable and focused on the advertised topic. For an excruciatingly detailed explanation of the necessity for this, see the rec.org.mensa newsgroup. Please take a few minutes to study this document before posting messages.

All members of Mensa worldwide are welcome to participate in the discussions on the list.

Non-members of Mensa, lapsed members of Mensa, and prospective members of Mensa are allowed to "lurk", but are requested to refrain from participation in the discussions.

Participation in this list is by approval only. This is to limit abuse by "spammers" (mass email marketers), Mensa-bashers (non-members *and* members), and "flamers" (personal attackers).

At the sole discretion of the list manager, approval can be withdrawn for any list member who is not a member of the London SIG on minimal justification and no notice. Greater consideration will be given for members of the London SIG. Decisions of the list manager can be appealed to the London SIG Coordinator. Please do not address such appeals to the list.

List messages are moderated after the fact. All messages are immediately posted. No doubt the administrator will be informed of any improprieties.

The preferable topic for this list is Mensa activities in and around London. Acceptable topics are anything to do with London or Mensa. This is NOT a Mensa-politics list - please look elsewhere for that. Mensa political discussions will be tolerated only up to a point.

The rules for postings are quite simple: no flames, no profanity, no name calling/personal attacks, and no commercial advertisements (see exception below). This list is not a place for personal insults.

No commercial messages of any kind are allowed with the one exception of sale of admission or transportation for Mensa events, but that's best sent to the london-announce list at http://mailman.mensa.org/listinfo/london-announce. Don't abuse the privilege.

The London SIG, American Mensa, Mensa International, the London SIG email lists, and all members thereof accept no liability whatsoever for anything you may purchase as a result of postings on this list. Caveat emptor!

We also accept no liability for anything else, by the way.

Your email address may be "harvested" from this list by other members for commercial purposes. We will ban from the list any member who engages in such activity, but cannot do more.

We'll see how it goes and make more rules only if necessary.

Submission of any article (email/post) to the this list constitutes permission for your article to placed in an archive or other on-line database retrieval service (such as a web page) or quoted on this list or printed in *any* Mensa publication.

Don't say it unless you'd put it on a postcard in the office outgoing mail basket. You alone are responsible for the contents of anything you post to the list. All posts are the opinions and responsibility of the poster, not of American Mensa nor Mensa International nor the London SIG.

Do not attach any non-text files to email sent to the list. No cross-posting, please.

It's best to see this list as the London SIG Room Party at a Mensa meeting that never ends. We certainly hope you enjoy it!
